You are here: Home \ Freshly squeezed orange juice \ Why is Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice so good for you?If you cannot see the orange being cut, how do you know if it is freshly squeezed?Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice Contains:
As most people do not eat enough fresh fruit and vegetables daily freshly squeezed juices are a quick, and enjoyable way of getting the vitamins and minerals necessary for the good functioning of the body. The vitamins and minerals from freshly squeezed juices are absorbed as quickly as 15 minutes within the body but whole fruit can take up to 6 hours, in which time a considerable proportion is by-passed as waste. Some orange juice would be picked, juice frozen, shipped to the UK , and water, sugar, malic acid added, heat treated, packed and sold - As freshly squeezed!!! Freshly squeezed orange juice is virtually fat free and contains no added sugar, salt or additives, unlike most shop bought orange juice. Freshly squeezed juices have enzymes that aid digestion. Enzymes are not in 'pure' juices as they pasteurised. The body cannot store Vitamin C or B-Complex yet the body requires a minimum amount every day. Cooking severely reduces nutritional value by killing enzymes and "washing away" vitamins and minerals, Fresh Juices are "raw" and high in nutritional value, Most people know that Vitamin C is present in citrus fruit but there is also pectin's that reduce the risk of heart disease and flavoniods that are thought to reduce the risk of cancer. Government recommended daily intake for Vitamin C is 60mg, 1/2 pint of Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice contains 100mg. 90 calories in each 1/2 pint on average. Raw juices are better for you than soft drinks, tea or coffee. Pure juice from concentrate can be 6-12 months old. Typically concentrates are reconstituted by using ordinary tap water! |
